I’ve been growing my hair out for 7 years. It is fine and very soft.
No color or other damaging treatments. I don’t smoke. Naturally frizz free.
I wash and condition it 2-4 times a week with Giovanni hair products from Whole Foods/Sprouts. Once a week, I deep condition with It’s A 10 Miracle Hair Mask instead of the Giovanni Conditioner. After a towel dry, I then spray it with Not Your Mother’s Naturals Curl Definition Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Detangler. It doesn’t add any curl to this hair, but it’s a nice smelling detangler and leave in conditioner. I then brush out with a Denman detangling brush. Air dry. I don’t own a curling iron or blow dryer. This hair dries pin straight. A friend once told me it looks like I flatironed it, but I didn’t
Once, for a treat, I had a hair salon student blow out and curl my hair.
I sleep with it in one braid and often wear it in one braid during the day as well.
I’ve trimmed it every 2-3 months all 7 years except for about a 6-8 month period after which I cut 3 inches off.
On a personal note, this hair has been with me through my coming of age. I believe the energy of the person who grew the hair stays with it in some capacity. I wish the recipient of my hair perseverance. I hope she stands in her truth. I hope she takes care of herself like I have my hair. Mostly, I hope she knows her worth.
